Installing a wind turbine on your boat may seem like the smartest way to get a bit more charge in the batteries while you are tied down at the docks, and a much bigger charge while you are out there on the waves. However, it isn’t that simple. Unfortunately, while this seems like the path towards harnessing perpetual motion power and you being able to keep going indefinitely, the truth is, your battery will still drain much more rapidly than it charges even on more windy days. This means that since an ordinary wind turbine alone isn’t enough for the job, you could try out a marine wind turbine and get a bit more juice in your battery in different weather conditions.
The great thing about the marine wind turbine is that it is a hybrid of two different clean energy-producing power sources, and as such it is a good combination of the best qualities of both. Both wind and solar energy have become a much more viable option as a source of electricity, thanks to the rapid advancement of the correlated technology that has made them much more efficient. Just as recently, as a few years ago, you would have found it difficult to even charge your electric toothbrush even after charging it for the entire day. Nowadays however, both are seen as genuinely being efficient and able to produce more energy than people assume they can.
I should however, mention that being more efficient than their predecessors doesn’t meant that they will be able to effortlessly charge the batteries on something like a boat to even half of its capacity most of the time. On paper, the complimentary capabilities of these two items make them a great tag team for any type of weather conditions, the solar panels for calm and sunny, and the wind turbine for cloudy skies and turbulent seas. Both are also as capable of storing energy while the boat is stationary at the docks as they are while it is riding the waves, which is always an added bonus.
In essence, if you are looking for a device that will charge your batteries the same amount as you are wasting, then this isn’t the item you are looking for, nor has that sort of item been invented yet in fact. If however, you find that the batteries on your boat deplete far too fast and you would like to help slow down that process significantly, then the marine wind turbine is just the right thing for you.
